Who we are, what we want, what we do - a brief introduction.
Who are we?
We are the alumni network of the Carlo-Schmid-Program for Internships in International Organisations. Our members are part of a community of over 800 German and international professionals with practical experiences in International Organisations, NGOs, academia and the business sector.
What are our aims?
Externally, our aim is to inspire and motivate students as well as young graduates to get practically involved in the field of international relations and cooperation. We strive to offer a new international perspective of Germany and to develop realistic expectations vis-à-vis the work of International Organisations.
Internally, our aim is to build a sustainable platform for networking and dialogue among our members along the line of our motto “CSP – Connect. Socialize. Participate”. For this, we focus on facilitating the exchange among our members as well as with experts from politics, academia and the business world.
What do we do?
Connect. We offer former CSP scholarship holders a platform for networking and exchange – locally and internationally, professionally and for fun. On our intranet we share (partially exclusive) job offers, calls for conferences and workshops, funding opportunities and information about all aspects of an international career.
Socialize. The main part of the network’s social life happens in its regional groups. In all major German cities as well as in various international internship locations of the Carlo Schmid Program, alumnis of the network organize get-togethers, „Stammtische“ and CSP-Salons as venues to network and to exchange thoughts on topics of international policy – in a closed group or with international actors. Knowledge transfer and exchange are always at the heart of our activities.
Participate. The network lives from the engagement of its members who contribute in various ways. Whether they present their own research or work at a CSP-Salon, help with the organisation of a „Stammtisch“ or of a panel discussion at our annual meeting, or leave their mark on the network by bringing in their own initiatives – every member can contribute with his or her competencies, contacts and creativity.
The CSP Network for International Politics and Co-Operation (registered association) is a friendly, non-profit society, which, according to the articles of association, aims at supporting the international understanding and an international attitude. The formal formation of the association took place at Lobetal, a little town close to Berlin, on May 4th, 2003.
Work within the network is mainly coordinated via an Intranet. The six members of the board – all members of the association themselves who are elected for a one-year tenure – coordinate the tasks in the areas of external relations, internal networking, events, communication and funding. In addition, the currently ten regional groups provide a platform for personal networking on a local level (Brussels, Geneva, New York, Berlin and many more). If you would like to get in touch with one of the regional groups, feel free to contact us via info [at] csp-network.org.
