The Spring Meeting 2019
In April, we gathered in Frankfurt for our spring meeting with the aim to establish a basis for the “Herbsttreffen”, our annual meeting in autumn, and to exchange views on the topic of this year “Climate Change or System Change – What now? What should we do?” Apart from a very interesting keynote speech by David Dresen (Klima-Allianz Deutschland, spokesperson of “Alle Dörfer bleiben”) on the topic of open-pit mining of brown coal and climate justice in Germany, we – together with about 15 Carl@s – developed ideas for the different agenda items of our traditional annual meeting in the fall.
As a result of our discussions, we agreed to focus on the following topics: sustainable technology, climate justice, a boxing match of economics: pluralists vs. neoclassical theorists, the role of media and communication as well as different aspects of behavioural economics and psychology in regards to climate change. We are looking forward to organizing an exciting annual meeting for and with many dedicated alumni from 31 October to 03 November 2019 in Berlin.
The Winter Meeting 2019
Between the 11th and the 13th of January, we met in Berlin for our winter meeting to discuss and agree on the main focus of the association’s work in 2019. From the general meeting in 2018 we received two tasks that we consider central to this year’s work of the board.
Firstly, together with a task group we are working on scenarios of how to establish and finance a professional administrative office for our alumni association. Secondly, we recognize that diversity is a pivotal challenge for the members and the structure of the association. That is why we have resolved to support and institutionalise measures that promote diversity in close cooperation with a diversity task force.
Moreover, we are committed to work on the areas communication and knowledge management as well as to strengthen the links to and among our members.
